Updated October 22, 2026. The store is now operating; the photographs in this story document its pre-opening construction stage.
DICK’S House of Sport is open at 2096 S. SanTan Village Parkway in Gilbert. Its official location page now lists regular hours and links to local events and services. The previously advertised October 2–4 grand-opening weekend has passed.
Whole Foods Market remains part of the separate development plan at Signature at SanTan Village. A grocery-store opening date has not been verified for this update.
Where is DICK’S House of Sport in Gilbert?
The new store is at 2096 S. SanTan Village Parkway, Gilbert, as listed in DICK’S official store directory. It is part of Signature at SanTan Village, on the northwest side of SanTan Village Parkway and Williams Field Road, directly west of the existing mall.
East Valley Explorer’s pre-opening aerial photos show the exterior sign in place, an “Opening Soon” banner above the entrance, lifts near the building and the outdoor field taking shape. Those details offer a closer look at the project before shoppers fill the parking lot.

Current hours and planning a visit
As checked October 22, DICK’S lists 9 a.m.–9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m.–7 p.m. Sunday. Check the Gilbert store page before a special trip, especially around holidays.
The page links to events and services for activity bookings. Store hours do not guarantee walk-up access to every sports feature; check the specific activity’s schedule, reservation requirements and fees.
The October 2–4 opening celebration and its advertised giveaways and athlete appearance are historical event information, not current offers.
What makes House of Sport different?
Gilbert’s development announcement describes a 119,397-square-foot store with a climbing wall, golf simulation bays, multi-sport cages and an attached outdoor field intended for open play, clinics and sports leagues.
That changes the reason for a visit. A family might arrive looking for equipment and return for an activity. Someone comparing gear could have a chance to test it in a setting designed for the sport. The appeal is especially easy to see in the aerial view of the turf and track: the activity space is a prominent part of the property.

Actual schedules, reservations, fees and access rules will determine how residents use those spaces. A planned field is not a promise of unrestricted public access, so check the store’s local offerings before heading over to play.
Whole Foods is coming to Signature at SanTan Village, too
Whole Foods Market is a confirmed anchor tenant in the new development. Gilbert’s announcement identifies a planned 43,000-square-foot grocery store, and developer Kensington’s project page continues to list Whole Foods alongside House of Sport.
The two stores serve different everyday needs. House of Sport gives people a reason to spend time at the center; Whole Foods could bring repeat grocery trips throughout the week. For nearby households, the practical benefit could be combining shopping, food and sports-related stops in one area.
The confirmed Whole Foods plan is for Signature at SanTan Village. It is not an announced reuse of the older DICK’S building across the road. A Gilbert Whole Foods opening date was not verified for this article, and the DICK’S celebration dates do not establish a grocery-store opening date.
What happens to the old DICK’S at SanTan Village?
The older location is associated with 2269 S. SanTan Village Parkway, the address shown on its separate DICK’S store page. The company’s Gilbert directory now points shoppers to the new 2096 address.
That directory change alone does not establish the older store’s final operating day or the next use of its building. We have not verified a closure date, conversion plan or replacement tenant for that space.

The implications are worth watching. If the older store vacates, SanTan Village would have a substantial space to refill. A new tenant could give that part of the mall a fresh draw; a prolonged vacancy could reduce the shopping trips that bring customers past neighboring businesses. Those are possible outcomes, not announced plans.
Meanwhile, a larger attraction across the road could give shoppers another reason to visit the broader SanTan area. Whether that translates into more visits to existing stores will depend on what people do before and after their House of Sport stop.
What local shoppers should watch next
The next useful updates are the store’s local activity calendar, Whole Foods’ own opening announcement and a confirmed plan for the older DICK’S space. The opening of House of Sport does not establish dates or operating status for neighboring tenants.
